Salsa is a social partner dance with Caribbean and African roots. It's very popular in almost all Latin America and among Latino and dance communities worldwide. It originated in the 1900s in Cuba, where rhythms from styles like Cuban Son and Afro-Cuban Rumba were combined to create a new dance known as Mambo. The dance was strongly influenced by NYC's Hispanic community, where musicians developed their rhythm into what we know as Salsa today.

At present, there are many different styles of Salsa around the world. This will be a 4 week progressive class that will focus on Salsa (on 1) where beginners will be introduced to Cuban motion, the rhythm of the dance, and a number of fun patterns!
