Maestra Vida / Ruben Blades w/musicians of the NY Philharmonic, NYC
Mon, Mar 31, 7:30-9:50pm (Details)

Join 2024-25 Lincoln Center Visionary Artist Ruben Blades for the U.S. premiere of Blade' large-scale musical work Maestra Vida, a soaring, genre-defying urban drama centered on the Latin American lived experience?performed by musicians of the New York Philharmonic and conducted by Diego Matheuz at David Geffen Hall, with Ruben Blades as lead singer.
Describing the urban reality of poor neighborhoods in Latin America through the story of a couple, Maestra Vida explores themes of life, death, and family in a fictional island in the Caribbean. This original composition fuses Afro-Caribbean music, symphonic arrangements, and a uniquely Latin American story. It?s written for a full symphonic orchestra of 90 musicians and a Latin ensemble consisting of piano, bass, congas, timbales, bongo, and two backing vocalists.

**Please note this performance will be performed in Spanish with both English and Spanish Supertitles.
