Born and raised in Harlem, Maxine Simmons started her life as a dancer at the age of 3 through tap and ballet. She discovered Lindy Hop at 15 by attending a workshop held by Mama Lu Parks. From there she placed 3rd twice at the Harvest Moon Ball and by 17 she was a professional dancer. Maxine began to spread the joys of dance and Lindy Hop up and down the East Coast and Canada with her fellow Parkets.
She continues to teach the next generation of Lindy Hoppers, sharing her wisdom and passion for this dance.
